Preschool Year 2
Broadway Campus
Teacher as connector to the outside world Within a predictable routine, the teachers provide support and encourage children to take more initiative to inquire, create, imagine, and, collaborate across other groups. Each class has 2 teachers with 12-14 kids per class.
Campus At our Broadway campus the physical space supports children’s growing development. These children are increasingly autonomous and curious learners, ready to take on more sophisticated materials and curriculum. A writing center, science center, dedicated art studio, and challenging rope swing are just a few of the new features for these students.
Curriculum Children in their second year of preschool are very social, full of curiosity about the world and other people. They are increasingly capable of expressing their needs, initiating ideas and activities, and communicating with and listening to others. They are now capable of a higher level of complexity and sophistication cognitively. The Broadway site preschool curriculum mirrors these complex and sophisticated developmental changes and supports the students’ developing maturity. Project-based learning activities, science and art projects, drama, Spanish, ceramics, and more organized sports and games are a few of the ways that we meet these.
Mindful of a child's response to change between campuses, a first-year Ocean Park preschool teacher will follow the group to the Broadway campus. Separate campuses allow for each site to be staffed and catered towards the needs of the children based on their development and age.
