Community, Parent Involvement, and Celebrations
We believe a strong relationship with families plays an integral part in nurturing the whole child. Before your child even begins their first day, it is our goal to establish a connection with families. Through intake meetings, campus playdates, and a home visit, we get a deeper understanding of your child and you have the opportunity to get to know the school as well. We work together to make this big transition as smooth as possible.
Communication and connection continue to be important throughout the school year. In addition to scheduled parent-teacher conferences, Kim and the teachers are available on an ongoing basis to answer questions and talk about development, goals, and support. The First School provides a weekly photo recap for each campus and a weekly newsletter with important news, updates, and events.
Parents are invited to come to school to share traditions, hobbies, and other special aspects of their family culture. Good communication helps create a strong support system for your child. It is important to share information both about our day at school and to have parents share any significant changes at home.
We are a relaxed, down-to-earth, joyous, supportive community simply wanting our kids to love being kids. We also find that our families enjoy being together. The First School experience offers the best of both worlds: Each campus is small and cozy, creating a natural platform for friendship, yet there is also access to the larger, active community throughout all three campuses..
Celebrations & Events
Learning about different cultures and religions provides deep understanding and tolerance. Our community celebrations and outreach include activities that recognize cultural diversity and focus on the similarities and differences among people in open-hearted, open-minded ways.
Celebrations are designed to instill respect and understanding of our world. We honor differences both in individuals and within our community. While some celebrations and traditions are highlights of each school year, others change based on the families in the immediate community.
